Tuition and Fees

The University of Southern California is a private institution where tuition is the same for all students. Residents of California, residents of other states, and international students all have the same tuition rate.

Tuition for 2017-2018 is $1,800 per unit. There is a flat fee of $26,724 each semester for 12-18 undergraduate units or 15-18 graduate units, otherwise tuition is charged on a per unit basis.

Estimated 2017-2018 tuition and fees for undergraduate and graduate students in occupational science and occupational therapy are presented below. Tuition and fees are subject to change and are expected to be the same or slightly higher for 2018-2019.

Note: OTD costs are listed for students who have earned a Master’s degree in the Division within the past five years. All other students may require additional coursework to be determined.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Occupational Science

Currently, students selected for admission to the PhD program are awarded fellowships or assistantships which cover 12 units of tuition support in fall, spring and summer, an annual stipend of $37,000, and student health and dental benefits. Total support is estimated to be over $60,000 per year.

* USC Fees include: one-time $350 orientation fee, Student health service fee ($333.50/semester, summer $240), Student programming fee ($64/semester during undergraduate year, $40 during graduate year), Student services fee ($21/semester during undergraduate year, $14/semester during graduate year), Norman H. Topping Student Aid Fund ($8/semester).

** USC Fees include: one-time $55 orientation fee, Student health service fee ($333.50//semester, summer $240), Student programming fee ($40/semester), Student services fee ($14/semester), Norman H. Topping Student Aid Fund ($8/semester).

Additional expenses may include:

  • Optional student health insurance (verification of other health insurance is required if student health insurance is not purchased at registration). Current USC Student Health Fees are: Fall 2017 $333.50, Spring/Summer 2018 $573.50.
  • Stafford Loan Fees are estimated at $344.40 per year and Graduate PLUS Loan Fees are estimated at $1,407 per year.
  • USC Financial Aid Office estimates annual undergraduate student costs of $14,886 for room and board, $1,200 for books and supplies, $1,324 for personal and miscellaneous and $540 for transportation.
  • USC Financial Aid Office estimates annual graduate student costs of $16,700 for room and board, $1,200 for books and supplies, $2,070 for personal and miscellaneous and $2,430 for transportation.
