Hello! My name is Ali Vogelsang. I am originally from Sacramento, California, but I have loved living in Los Angeles for the past four years for school. I am at USC as part of the Bachelor’s to Master’s Occupational Therapy program. I have always had a passion for helping individuals engage in meaningful activities. “Occupational therapy” finally put a name to the career that I always wanted but never knew existed before coming to USC. I know that everyday I will be able to help my clients live happier and healthier lives by doing what they truly love. My passion is to help others participate in their passions. Some of my favorite occupations include running, hiking, and going to the beach. I am looking forward to a year full of sharing my love for OT and USC with you all. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you have. Fight on!

Hi! My name is Bryan and it is a pleasure to meet you (virtually at least)! I was born and raised in Redondo Beach, CA and completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA (I know, I know), graduating with a BA in English and Creative Writing. From there I ventured into the fun and exciting world of Marketing/Advertising only to discover my true passion for Occupational Therapy along the way. Some of my favorite occupations include exploring nature (especially mountains and forests) and snapping lots of Instagram pictures. I also love playing basketball and guitar. It has been an incredible journey here at USC and I am so grateful to be part of it. Excited to share in our passion for OT this year!

Hi! My name is Caroline and I am from Durham, North Carolina. I graduated from Wake Forest University, also in North Carolina, with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. I first learned about occupational therapy in middle school, while completing a research project about Autism. Throughout high school and college, I learned more and more about occupational therapy—what occupational therapists can do, who they can help, where they can work—and I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do! I decided to make the move to Los Angeles to study Occupational Therapy at USC, and throughout my studies, I am constantly reminded that I made the right decision. Outside of school, my favorite occupations include trying new restaurants, hiking, reading, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and exploring all that sunny Southern California has to offer! I am also a member of Pi Theta Epsilon, the Occupational Therapy Honors Society. I am excited to share my love of OT with you, so please feel free to reach out with any questions! Fight On!

Hey! My name is Erika Lim and I graduated from USC in 2008 with my bachelor’s degree in communication. After undergrad, I moved to Brooklyn, NY to pursue a career in advertising and ended up living and playing out there for three years. From time to time, I would see and catch up with old USC friends who were occupational therapists and these chats would always leave me bright-eyed and wanting more. I loved the client-centered nature of the profession; the ability to work with populations across the lifespan, and that there was a place for creative thinking and innovation. After seven years working in advertising, I finally made the decision to leave and embark on the profession that I knew was right for me and have enjoyed every minute of it. Some of my favorite occupations are as follows: cooking while listening to the latest episode of Morning Becomes Eclectic, traveling to areas with a lot of trees, jumping in the ocean, yoga, and making up silly songs with my nephew. I also represent OT as part of the interdisciplinary executive board for USC's Student Run Clinic, so if you have any questions about the organization or otherwise, I'm happy to help!

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Cruz and I was born and raised in the Southern California area. I am a proud double Trojan (fight on!) that majored in Psychology and minored in Occupational Science during my undergraduate career. My love for occupational therapy stems from the fact that I have always wanted to dedicate my life to something bigger than myself. To be able to positively impact individuals’ lives through a holistic lens is just one of the many characteristics of the profession that I find so invaluable. Beyond the classroom, my favorite occupations include traveling, photography, and spending quality time with my family and friends. I also am an executive board member of USC’s Occupational Therapy and Science Council (OTSC), where I serve our state association as the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC) student delegate. I am incredibly excited for the year ahead and am looking forward to sharing my OT journey with you!

Ahlan! My name is Linah AlShaalan and I come all the way from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I graduated from King Saud University with a bachelor’s of science in occupational therapy, and I am currently studying in USC in the Post-Professional Master’s Program. I chose occupational therapy as a career path because I loved how it bridges between disciplines in order to achieve the most holistic client centered approach to care. One of my favorite occupations is painting canvases, I love spending months on a single canvas to create something meaningful. I also enjoy expressing my creativity with cooking. My current specialty is rice, Beryani to be exact. I feel blessed to have found occupational therapy, and USC is the best place to explore many of its different facets!
