Meet the Chan Student Ambassadors

The USC Chan Student Ambassadors are current occupational therapy students working toward the completion of their master's degrees. The role of a student ambassador is to help raise awareness for the field of occupational therapy and our programs here at USC. They provide tours, give informational presentations, help with events, blog about their experiences, post to Chan Division social media accounts, and answer questions from prospective students. Hello there! My name is Alyssa Guerrero and I was born and raised in Southern California. I graduated from the University of La Verne, where I majored in Kinesiology and minored in Child Development. My favorite hobbies include spending time with friends and family, exercising, swimming, snacking, drinking coffee, and playing with my pup, Jameson. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to teach and help others grow. However, it was not until I worked directly with children with special needs that I found and pursued this passion. During my undergraduate years, I received an incredible opportunity to work with occupational therapists to teach water safety skills to children with special needs. I am so thankful for this meaningful experience and how it inspired me to pursue my dream career in occupational therapy. I love USC and I look forward to sharing my passion and experiences with you!

Hello there! My name is Erwin and I am from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I became exposed to occupational therapy in high school through my volunteer work at a local community hospital. It was through this experience that I made the decision to pursue occupational therapy. For my undergraduate degree, I moved up north and attended San Jose State University where I majored in Occupational Therapy. My favorite occupations include playing basketball, eating, traveling, listening to music, and rooting for USC football! I am also a member of USC’s Occupational Therapy and Science Council where I serve as our state association’s (OTAC) student delegate. I look forward to meeting and sharing my passion for occupational therapy with you soon. Fight on!

Hi! My name is Jessica Gin and I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Before I discovered occupational therapy, I completed my undergrad at UCLA with a major in International Development Studies and minor in Public Policy. After undergrad, I moved to Brooklyn, New York and pursued a career as a Special Education teacher, which introduced me to occupational therapy for the first time! After four years of teaching (and lots of moving), I realized that occupational therapy was the best career fit for me, combining my passion for helping others and being creative. Some of my favorite occupations include going to the beach, being active, trying new foods, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Hello! My name is Jessica, but you can call me JRoe. I was born and raised in southern California and will be a double Trojan having also attended USC for my undergraduate studies majoring in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Psychology. I was drawn to occupational therapy due to its holistic nature as well as the fact that I simply love people. I found the opportunity to help individuals reach their own goals both unique and inspiring. When I’m not learning more about our profession, I enjoy cooking, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with friends and family. I am excited for the year ahead and the ability to share my love for OT with all of you. Please do not hesitate to ask questions and I hope to see you on campus! Fight On!

Hello! My name is Kimberly, but most people call me Kimmy. I was born and raised in New York, but I have loved soaking up the West Coast sunshine. Just don’t ask me which coast I prefer — it’s the hardest question for me to answer! I attended USC for my undergraduate years in the Bachelor’s to Master’s Occupational Therapy (OT) program, in addition to pursuing a second major in Psychology and minor in Nutrition & Health Promotion. Outside of school, my favorite occupations include cooking, hiking, crafting, and reading. In fact, my interests beyond the classroom led me to OT, as it allows me to combine my appreciation for science, creativity, and helping others. I absolutely love to talk about both OT and USC, so let me know if you have any questions at all. Fight on!

Hello! My name is Raisa. I was born and raised in Cebu City, Philippines. I officially became a Trojan in August 2016. I am currently in the MA-1 post-professional master’s program and I hope to graduate in May 2017. I completed my Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy in the Philippines and I was a practicing occupational therapist before I moved to Los Angeles, to take up the Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy program here at USC. I am particularly interested in neurorehabilitation and in adult acute care settings. Outside of academics, I would like to think that I am an “Ambivert” — an introvert-extrovert hybrid. I enjoy exploring Los Angeles, finding awesome hangouts with good food and music, visiting museums, and going to the beach (but nothing beats the beaches in the Philippines) and I want to try new exciting things at least once! I came to USC because I know that this program will help enhance my knowledge and skills in becoming a better occupational therapist. I love USC because not only do they welcome you with open arms but they go the extra mile to ensure that you are comfortable and getting the most out of your stay in the university. I look forward to hearing from you! Please feel free to contact me for any questions you may have regarding life in Los Angeles as a USC Trojan. Fight on!
