Connecting to the Terminal Server

  • PC/Windows users: For Remote Desktop Connection to the Terminal Server, connect to after clicking on Remote Desktop Connection located in the Accessories folder. Log in just the way you do to get to your desktop.
  • Mac users: If you are running Office 2011, you have RDC (Remote Desktop Connection) already installed. Otherwise, you can download Microsoft Remote Desktop from the Mac App Store. If you encounter problems installing or using Microsoft Remote Desktop, contact John Wolcott at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

In order for computers to connect to the Terminal Server from outside USC (say from home), they must also be running Cisco AnyConnect VPN client and connected to USC before running the RDC or Microsoft Remote Desktop program.  If you do not have AnyConnect on your PC or Mac, please download it at  You will be prompted to log in.  Remember to use your USC username and password, not your division password, when connecting to USC and when using VPN. Click on the “Start AnyConnect” link in the upper left screen.  After the next screen appears, click on the link to install the program.  Do not click on the “retry the automatic installation.”
