Contribute to a Special Issue in Frontiers in Neuroinformatics!

Nov 1, 2017

Dr. Sook-Lei Liew is editing a Special Issue for Frontiers in Neuroinformatics entitled “Collaborative Efforts for Understanding the Human Brain” with Dr. Neda Jahanshad and Dr. Lianne Schmaal. Manuscripts on efforts for supporting collaborative brain imaging or genomics studies (e.g., using data across at least 2 sites) are welcome and due January 15, 2018. REINVENT gets featured in CNET article!

Oct 16, 2017

We are excited to share that REINVENT, our brain computer interface that uses EEG, EMG, and virtual reality, was feature in this CNET article! We are beginning to test the REINVENT system with stroke patients in a controlled lab setting; please contact us if you are interested in participating or are interested in finding out more about REINVENT.

3 NPNL’s lab members awarded Division Student Leadership Award for the OTAC Annual Conference!

Oct 10, 2017

The Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy announced that 10 students, including our very own David Saldana, Allie Schmiesing, and Jennifer Chan, for a Critically Appraised Paper (CAP) accepted for online publication in AOTA’s Evidence Exchange.

According to the American Occupational Therapy (AOTA) Evidence Exchange, this program represents a, “grass roots member effort to engage practitioners, educators, students and researchers in both the CAP submission and review process.  The CAPS are submitted on-line and undergo a peer review process by individuals who have successfully completed a self-study and training program.”

AOTA has long recognized that students and their faculty mentors produce high-quality summaries of individual research articles as part of their academic training.  These CAPs are a valuable contribution to the profession’s overall efforts to provide members with a wide variety of evidence-based practice resources to create a bridge linking education, practice, and research.

Congratulations to David, Allie, and Jennifer for a job well done!

NPNL’s REINVENT Brain Computer Interface featured in IEEE Xplore’s Innovation Spotlight

Aug 29, 2017

We’re really excited to be featured in IEEE Xplore‘s Innovation Spotlight for our work developing REINVENT, a low-cost brain computer interface that provides virtual reality neurofeedback for people after stroke! We’ve been building this for over a year now with a great team of neuroscientists, engineers, computer scientists, and clinicians from the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and the Mixed Realities Lab from the USC Institute for Creative Technologies.

You can also check out this USC feature article on REINVENT.

ATLAS (Anatomical Tracings of Lesions After Stroke), Release 1.1, is now LIVE!

Aug 28, 2017

ATLAS (Anatomical Tracings of Lesions After Stroke), Release 1.1, is now LIVE!

We are very excited to announce that our ATLAS dataset, Release 1.1, is now live! This is a dataset of n=304 post-stroke T1-weighted MRIs and manually segmented lesion masks.

The full dataset is archived with ICPSR here: http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/icpsrweb/ICPSR/studies/36684

A subset of the data that has been standardized and defaced is also archived with the Functional Connectomes Project’s International Neuroimaging Data-Sharing Initiative (FCP INDI) here: http://fcon_1000.projects.nitrc.org/indi/retro/atlas.html

Check out more info in our bioRxiv preprint:

Thanks to all the amazing ATLAS contributors and team members - it’s been a long journey but we are excited to share this big data stroke neuroimaging resource!
