Accelerated Master’s to OTD
Please note: Currently, USC Chan is accepting applications to the entry-master’s program in occupational therapy, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education® (ACOTE®). The Chan Division has also initiated the ACOTE process to transition the entry-master’s to an accredited entry-level doctoral (OTD) program. This transition could occur as early as the 2021 application cycle (program start in 2022). Updates will be provided on our website throughout the accreditation process as they become available.
At USC Chan, you can seamlessly transition from your master’s degree into your OTD degree in occupational therapy, effectively creating a 3-year Accelerated Master’s to OTD program. In fact, the majority of USC Chan entry-level students choose to continue directly into the OTD program immediately upon completion of their master’s degrees.
USC Chan recognizes that if you are competitive enough to be admitted to our master’s degree program, you are already an outstanding applicant that is likely qualified to continue on into doctoral studies. Therefore, we have an expedited OTD admissions process for you once you are in our master’s program. Otherwise, please review our standard admissions process.
To participate in the current 3-year Accelerated MA-OTD program, you will still apply to our Entry-Level Professional Master’s Degree program if your bachelor’s degree is in a field other than occupational therapy. If you are an occupational therapist or have your bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, you will apply to our Post-Professional Master’s Degree program and your Accelerated MA-OTD program will be 2 years instead of 3 years.
If you would like to know more, please use our Request Program Information Form, and we will be happy to send you a brochure about any of our programs. We also provide information sessions, both in-person and virtual, for prospective students interested in our master’s degree programs.
