Tuition and Fees

The University of Southern California is a private institution where tuition is the same for all students. Residents of California, residents of other states, and international students all have the same tuition rate.

Tuition for 2019-2020 is $1,928 per unit. There is a flat fee of $28,628 each semester for 12-18 undergraduate units or 15-18 graduate units, otherwise tuition is charged on a per unit basis.

Estimated 2019-2020 tuition and fees for undergraduate and graduate students in occupational science and occupational therapy are presented below. Tuition and fees are subject to change and are expected to be the same or slightly higher for 2020-2021.

Note: OTD costs are listed for students who have earned a Master’s degree in the Division within the past five years. All other students may require additional coursework to be determined.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Occupational Science

Currently, students selected for admission to the PhD program are awarded fellowships or assistantships which cover 12 units of tuition support in fall, spring and summer, an annual stipend of $40,000, and student health and dental benefits.

Fees and Additional Expenses

* USC Undergraduate Fees include: one-time $450 orientation fee, Student health service fee ($367/semester, summer $249), Student programming fee ($64/semester during undergraduate year, $43 during graduate year), Norman H. Topping Student Aid Fund ($8/semester).

** USC Graduate Fees include: one-time $55 orientation fee, one-time $250 lab fee for OT406 (first semester of Entry-Level MA Program), one-time $60 Examplify software fee, Student health service fee ($367/semester, summer $273), Student programming fee ($43/semester), Norman H. Topping Student Aid Fund ($8/semester).

Additional expenses may include:

  • USC Financial Aid Office estimates annual undergraduate student costs of $15,916 for room and board, $1,200 for books and supplies, $1,564 for personal and miscellaneous and $584 for transportation.
  • USC Financial Aid Office estimates annual graduate student costs of $18,450 for room and board, $1,200 for books and supplies, $2,610 for personal and miscellaneous and $2,394 for transportation.
