Megha Gala MA ’26

Hometown: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Program: Post-Professional Master’s, Class of 2026

What area of practice are you interested in?

I’m especially drawn to neurorehabilitation—stroke, TBI, Parkinson’s, and other conditions that deeply impact a person’s identity and day-to-day life. I love the complexity of motor recovery, the creativity required in intervention, and the privilege of helping someone regain skills that truly matter to them. I also enjoy the blend of hands-on treatment, problem-solving, and emotional support. There’s something incredibly meaningful about helping a person reconnect with their routines, roles, and sense of self after a major neurological event.

What are some favorite occupations you personally engage in?

Some of my favorite occupations are the ones that help me slow down and reconnect with myself. I love reading—getting lost in a story or learning something new instantly resets my mind. I also make time to watch sunsets whenever I can; there’s something grounding about ending the day with that kind of quiet beauty. And occasionally, I paint. I’m not aiming for masterpieces, but the process of mixing colors and creating something just for myself feels incredibly calming and expressive.

What are “green flags” (i.e., pleasant attributes) and “red flags” (i.e., unpleasant attributes) that you notice about other people?

Green flags: people who laugh easily, make space for others, and say “text me when you get home” unprompted.

Red flags: people who brag about never being wrong, treat service workers poorly, or act like group projects are optional.

Bonus red flag: anyone who says “I don’t like snacks.” That’s suspicious behavior.

What are the food and beverage items you most recently consumed?

I just had a perfectly chaotic combo: a granola bar I found in my backpack (age unknown but still edible), and an iced coffee that I absolutely did not need but emotionally required. Together, they powered me like a small but determined squirrel.
