This is an OTD residency opportunity in the Clinical Research track.

Lisa Aziz-Zadeh | A-Z Lab at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts & Sciences’ Brain and Creativity Institute

About the A-Z lab

The A-Z Lab at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences’ Brain and Creativity Institute explores the idea that rudimentary sensory-motor areas may be intrinsically involved in processing aspects of higher cognition such as language, thought, emotions, empathy and social communication. Led by Lisa Aziz-Zadeh PhD, the A-Z Lab examines social cognitive neuroscience questions using brain imaging techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), and neuropsychological measures. In particular, in the coming year we are focusing on a study on children with autism, sensory profiles, brain imaging, and the microbiome.

About the residency

We are looking for an OTD resident who will participate in a research study on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Coordination Disorder. The research study aims to better understand the biological basis of heterogeneity in autism including neural (fMRI), gut/brain axis and microbiota differences. The OTD resident will participate in all aspects of research, including recruitment, grant development, data acquisition, project management, data management, conducting assessments, and participating in MRI data acquisition.

The resident will dedicate 30 hours/week during fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week in the summer semester.

Financial support

The resident will receive a Graduate Assistantship award, which covers 24 units of tuition, plus a stipend, as well as health and dental insurance and the student health center fee.
