This is an OTD residency opportunity in the Synergy Residencies track.

Synergy in Adult Rehabilitation and Geriatrics

About the Synergy residencies

This new OTD Residency opportunity will leverage the strengths of two of our missions in the Chan Division. While OTD residencies have historically been offered in one primary area of focus, these new residency opportunities are intentionally constructed to bridge two mission areas and promote synergy between research, practice, and teaching.

About the Synergy in Adult Rehabilitation and Geriatrics residency

The Synergy in Adult Rehabilitation and Geriatrics residency will have a dual focus on clinical practice and pedagogy.

The residency will be located at Keck Medicine of USC and at the USC Chan Division. Residents will be mentored by clinical faculty and staff at Keck Hospital of USC with expertise in adult rehabilitation, productive aging, aging in place, and clinic and community based primary care for older adults. In the Chan Division, Residents will be mentored by teaching faculty and participate in related course activities. Residents may also engage with community partners, such as Rebuilding Together and/or Front Porch, to develop occupational therapy roles and services.

Synergy Residents will be assigned one faculty mentor, but will likely have two preceptors, one from each site of focus. Residents will actively participate in the Chan Division strategic plan implementation team that is focused on building collaborative synergies and knowledge mobilization.

Financial support

This opportunity offers financial support including 24 units of paid tuition, a paid student worker position, as well as health and dental insurance and the student health center fee.
