Nakisha Gutierrez OTD, OTR/L received her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy Degree at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA. Upon graduation, she completed her fellowship in physical rehabilitation at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare where she then joined on as faculty of their Residency program, and later became the lead OT for the Neurological Complex Team. Nakisha has contributed to clinical research in areas related to motor recovery post stroke and quality of life improvement in individuals with a spinal cord injury. She has worked in the area of inpatient rehabilitation for over 3 years and specializes in rehab with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and stroke. Nakisha was the co-developer of an approved continuing education course through AOTA titled, “Mirror Therapy Post-Stroke for Upper Extremity Hemiparesis: Protocol & Practice.” Throughout her time as an OT, she has been an advocate for improving quality of care and patient outcomes within the healthcare system. Nakisha has a passion for academia and research and is currently completing her certification in physical agent modalities.
