Privacy Policy

The SENSE NICU mobile application was developed by the NICU Therapy Lab at the University of Southern California to aid families in conducting the SENSE program with their high-risk infants in the NICU. The platform provides educational materials and a space to document sensory exposures done with the baby, and this data can be shared with hospital personnel. Such data, when shared, can also be used for research that can improve future programming.

The SENSE NICU mobile application has been made available at no cost to families hospitalized in NICUs who have paid the user fee for the SENSE program.

This page is used to inform visitors of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information entered into the mobile application.

Information Collection and Use

The SENSE NICU app is stored locally on the user’s device, and no disclosure of user data is required to install the app. Any data collected within the SENSE NICU app is added by the user at the user’s discretion (baby name, hospital, estimated gestational age, postmenstrual age, discharge date, logged sensory supports). While entered data is not automatically shared with others, the user can opt to share logged data from the app by sending it to a designated email address of the user’s choice. Data is stored locally on the user’s personal device and not accessible to others unless shared by the user.
