Support Groups and Social Communities

- Glendora After Stroke Support Group: Free weekly support group for stroke survivors and caregivers, re-learning class, and special events. The group meets at La Fetra Senior Center in Glendora, CA
- Keck Medicine of USC Stroke Support Group: An educational, interactive meeting allowing stroke survivors, their families, and caregivers to connect with one another and with health care professionals. Stroke Rehabilitation Services
- Chapman University Physical Therapy Programs: Offers a Community Exercise Program and a Stroke Boot Camp at no cost
- CSU Long Beach Neuro Pro Bono Clinic: Offers no cost physical therapy sessions for individuals with neurologic disorders who have exhausted their therapy benefits, who do not have access to therapy, or have complex presentations that require long-term intensive therapy but who continue to demonstrate potential for change. - Rancho Los Amigos Stroke Programs: Rancho Los Amigos offers various programs such as work rehabilitation and an adaptive outdoor adventure program. To determine eligibility for admission to Rancho’s program, contact the Centralized Admission and Referral Office (CARO) at (562) 385-6554

Community Fitness Opportunities and Services
- Carson Stroke Center: Access to the fitness center and classes such as Chair Exercise, Chair Yoga, and Chair Volleyball. Individuals must be at least six (6) months post-stroke, meet the eligibility criteria, and complete an application
- The Wellness Center at the Historic General Hospital: Offers a variety of no cost health and wellness resources such as a Flex and Flow in-person exercise class, a Stretching and Strengthening in-person exercise class, and a Healthy Nutrition and Exercise class. All in-person group activities and classes require Covid-19 vaccine. For updates call (213) 784-9191
- The Wellness Center at Rancho: Rancho offers adaptive gym use and fitness classes with basic monthly memberships starting at $25
Access to Medical Equipment or Adaptive Equipment
- Convalescent Aid Society: Residents of the San Gabriel Valley are loaned no-cost medical equipment such as canes, crutches, walkers, bathing aid equipment, toileting aids, and personal care equipment
Transportation
- ACCESS: You can find free or reduced fares and a curb-to-curb shared-ride service. Regular service is offered from 4:00 AM to 12:00 AM, 7 days a week with limited service available from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM. To apply and determine eligibility fill out an application
