Lifestyle Redesign®
Research Labs
Lifestyle Redesign for Chronic Conditions (LRCC) Lab ⟩
The Lifestyle Redesign for Chronic Conditions (LRCC) Laboratory, led by Dr. Beth Pyatak, explores the impact of chronic conditions such as diabetes and arthritis on health and well-being, particularly among populations at elevated risk for poor health and quality of life. This lab focuses research on uncovering the unmet needs of medically underserved populations which are potentially responsive to occupational therapy interventions. These questions are explored through the use of a variety of qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, and translational research methodologies.
Healthy Aging Research and Technology (HART) Lab ⟩
The Healthy Aging Research & Technology (HART) Lab is under the guidance of Dr. Stacey Schepens Niemiec with the mission to promote older adult wellness. The HART Lab utilizes interventions with a special emphasis on application of cutting edge technology to enhance the quality of life and well-being of older people.
Lifestyle Interventions for Health Promotion and Prevention ⟩
The now-inactive Lifestyle Interventions for Health Promotion and Prevention Lab, led by Professor Emeritus Florence Clark, began the exploration of preventative occupational therapy intervention for older adults by enabling them to maintain their health independence. From when the USC Well Elderly Study was first launched in 1993, until her retirement in 2018, Dr. Clark led the study of the impact of Lifestyle Redesign on older adults. Under her guidance, the USC Well Elderly Study was the first occupational therapy study to be published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
