Dr. Sook-Lei Liew receives a National Institutes of Health Loan Repayment Program Award

Dr. Sook-Lei Liew has received a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Loan Repayment Program (LRP) Award from the National Institute on Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). The overall objective of the NIH LRP is to enhance the recruitment and retention of highly qualified health professionals to scientific careers in clinical, pediatric, health disparities, or contraception and infertility research.
Per the NIH LRP website: “Since tomorrow’s medical breakthroughs will be made by investigators starting in their research careers today, the LRPs represent an important investment by NIH in the future of health discovery and the wellbeing of the Nation.”
Dr. Liew received a clinical LRP award for her research in characterizing neural recovery patterns after stroke in the human brain.
Upcoming talks by Dr.Cameron Craddock

The NPNL is pleased to host Dr. Cameron Craddock on September 10th and 11th! Dr. Craddock is the Director of the Computational Neuroimaging Lab, Center for Biomedical Imaging and Neuromodulation, Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research, Orangeburg, NY and the Director of Imaging, Center for the Developing Brain, Child Mind Institute, New York, NY. He will be giving two talks while here on neuroinformatics (Sept 10) and real-time fMRI for clinical research (Sept 11).

The NPNL along with Dr. James Finley and his USC Locomotor Control Laboratory and Dr. Tyler Ard from the USC Institute of Creative Technologies recently attended SIGGRAPH 2015! At the conference, we were able to explore the latest developments in virtual reality and immersive technology as well as see emerging technologies in healthcare and healthcare research.

Dr. Liew Awarded NIH K12 Grant

Dr. Sook-Lei Liew was awarded an NIH K12 career development grant for her work in neurorehabilitation, with a focus on using neuroimaging to develop predictive models of motor learning and responsiveness to different types of treatments (e.g., noninvasive brain stimulation)!
