The Adult Skills Center (TASC)

About the organization

The Adult Skills Center (TASC), funded by the North Los Angeles County Regional Center, is a non-profit social service organization serving the needs of adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families for the last 30 years. Headquartered in Lake Balboa, California, the agency invites Licensed Occupational Therapists to experience this community of individuals diagnosed with a developmental disability (autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, intellectual disability) interacting closely with professionally trained staff to meet the goals of increasing their quality of life through a client-driven needs approach.

TASC provides several services, including a community-based day program, an independent living skills (ILS) training program, a supported employment program, a supported living services (SLS) program, and the STS program. The Specialized Therapeutic Services (STS) program is an innovative mental health and behavioral program. The first of its kind, STS started in November of 2016, and provides outpatient mental health services including comprehensive psychosocial evaluations, psychotherapy — individual, group treatment, health education, behavioral interventions and supports.
