Research Consultations

The Chan Archive is committed to assisting you with your research needs and offers research consultations or reference services in-person and by email.

If you would like assistance on how to locate and use our archival materials and primary sources, navigate our finding aids, and more, please contact us by email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your questions or to schedule an in-person research appointment.

Classroom and Small Group Instruction

We welcome opportunities to collaborate with faculty to teach and co-teach classes and small groups on research with archival materials from the Chan Archive. We can provide:

  • An introduction to primary source literacy, including locating, handling, and using rare items in the Chan Archive for research
  • Hands-on activities, such as analyzing primary sources and introducing students to the archival process
  • Identification of relevant primary sources for your course topic
  • A tour of the Center for Occupation for Lifestyle Redesign® led by historian Christine Peters, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA

If you would like to request a classroom or small group instruction session, please contact us by email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) at least 4 weeks in advance to allow us time to prepare for your visit. Early notice will be much appreciated. Please also include in your email the following:

  • Class syllabus (if applicable)
  • Class or group size
  • Preferred dates and times for the instruction
  • Preferred visit length
  • Course and instructor’s goals for the class or group in visiting the Chan Archive

The classroom on the second floor at the Center for Occupation for Lifestyle Redesign® can accommodate classes of up to 24 students and is equipped with WiFi and a mounted TV monitor for presentations.
