Lifestyle Redesign®
Education and Training
Overview
The Lifestyle Redesign Knowledge Mobilization Initiative (LR-KMI), launched in 2022, aims to promote greater synergies across research, education, and practice in Lifestyle Redesign, and to develop resources and infrastructure to enable occupational therapy practitioners and health system partners to integrate Lifestyle Redesign into diverse practice settings. These efforts include developing continuing education opportunities, Lifestyle Redesign training, and a Lifestyle Redesign Certification, accessible to all occupational therapy practitioners.
Continuing Education Opportunities
Live Events
The Lifestyle Redesign Webinar Series consists of bi-monthly live webinars, open to anyone interested in learning more about how lifestyle management approaches have been implemented in real-world clinical and research settings. Each webinar is unique in topic and led by a notable speaker with experience in said topic. Attendees are eligible to claim continuing education (CE) credit for participating in the live event.
Other types of events, such as Motivational Interviewing training, are also hosted periodically throughout the year. More information about upcoming webinars and other live events can be found in the Upcoming Events page.
On-Demand Learning
The Lifestyle Redesign Webinar Series live events are recorded and made available for on-demand viewing shortly thereafter, for a nominal fee. These on-demand webinars are eligible for CE credit. To access past webinars on-demand, visit the On-Demand Learning page.
Training
Foundations of Lifestyle Redesign Course Series
The Foundations of Lifestyle Redesign Course Series is designed to fulfill several requirements for Lifestyle Redesign Certification. The Course Series is offered in a distance-learning/online format, with a mix of synchronous and paced asynchronous formats. Detailed course descriptions can be found on the Course Series page.
USC Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice Fellowship
For the first time, the USC Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice (OTFP) will provide Lifestyle Redesign training opportunities to licensed occupational therapy practitioners from around the globe as part of its Occupational Therapy Fellowship. Fellowship program features are outlined on the Fellowship page.
Certification
A Lifestyle Redesign Certification (LRC) indicates that an occupational therapy practitioner has demonstrated competence in applying the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework in their practice (inclusive of direct patient care, consultation, research and education activities). Occupational therapy practitioners who hold a Lifestyle Redesign Certification have received advanced training and mentored practice in guiding clients through the process of orchestrating occupations, habits, and routines to enhance health and well-being. They flexibly draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address the needs of people with or at risk for chronic conditions. Visit the Certification page to learn more about eligibility, requirements, and FAQs.
