Core Course 3: Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (0.8 CEUs)
This 8-hour course provides strategies for developing and implementing new Lifestyle Redesign programs in a range of settings, with relevant examples. Additionally, it reviews processes for program evaluation and monitoring, to ensure continued program success.
Special Topics Courses (0.3 CEUs each)
Our continuing education program will launch with 3-hour Special Topics courses in the most common treatment areas* addressed by Lifestyle Redesign, with additional topics to be added in the future. These courses each employ a structured format to provide an overview of Lifestyle Redesign intervention approaches for a specific diagnosis or population. Each course begins with pathophysiology and medical management of a particular condition, as it is relevant to occupational performance. Each course then provides a detailed overview of special considerations for evaluation and intervention specific to that diagnosis. Each course concludes with an application portion focused on review of case studies and a learning activity.
*Special Topics courses include the following: weight management, diabetes, chronic pain, chronic headaches (including post-concussion syndrome), sleep disorders, autism, multiple sclerosis, mental health, and primary care.
Mentored Practicum (2 semester units)
Note: This course is not eligible for CE credit as it is offered through USC as a 2-unit semester course, typically 14-weeks in duration. Participants register as limited-status students at USC to enroll.
Participants attend 2-hours synchronous class sessions each week and practice Lifestyle Redesign with clients outside of class. They receive mentoring on their performance, methods and therapeutic approach, and feedback and guidance on treatment and documentation. Weekly discussion with the instructor and peers informs the participant’s treatment planning and delivery. The course requirements include two case studies with clinical observations, which serve to demonstrate competency in delivering Lifestyle Redesign interventions.
