Vidhisha Nair MA ’18

Hometown: Mumbai, India
Program: Post-Professional Master’s, Class of 2018

What brought you to occupational therapy?
In India, it is a great honor when girls become doctors or therapists. But for me, the practical experience of living with a loved family member who suffered from a specific disease and seeing it progress from initial stages to more acute stages made me strongly decide that I wanted to be in the medical profession. Talking to a few people, friends and seniors shed light on the field of Occupational Therapy and its role in the medical field. It sounded interesting and here I am living out my interests today at USC.

What area of practice are you interested in or have practiced in?
Adult Neurorehabilitation.

Tell us about your favorite memory from the program so far.
My favorite memory so far was when Dr. Cermak surprised us by dressing up as Vector from Minions for Halloween.

What song can you sing entirely by heart?
I guess it will be most of the Bollywood songs by Arijit Singh. He is my favorite.

If you could visit any time in history, where would you go and why?
If I could visit any time in history, I would love to go back to the time when I went to Pondicherry. It’s a beautiful small place in the Southern part of India, full of beaches and lots of yummy food. I had been there with my best friends. I miss their presence here and I want to re-live those days.

What do you think is the greatest invention of mankind?
Technology is the greatest invention of mankind.

If your childhood had a smell, what would it be?
Chocolates. When I think of my childhood, I can only remember the number of chocolates I’ve had, cried for and fought with my sister to eat.
