Life Management Series
Please note
As of October 1, 2022, we no longer offer new enrollment to the Life Management Series.
To expand access to Lifestyle Redesign® training and enable OT clinicians to utilize Lifestyle Redesign in clinical practice, the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy is excited to soon offer a certification in Lifestyle Redesign.
The certification will involve continuing education courses in Lifestyle Redesign topics, motivational interviewing training, mentored practice hours, and a final skills assessment. If you are interested in receiving more information regarding the certification in Lifestyle Redesign, and future CE courses in this topic area, please contact us.
The Life Management Series consists of seven courses designed to prepare you to work with patients to better manage chronic health and medical conditions such as obesity, diabetes, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, stress, behavioral health, and autism spectrum disorders. Take as many courses as you desire, but note that the Introduction to Lifestyle Redesign® course is a prerequisite for all of the other courses in the series, and must be completed first.

The difference between occupational therapy and life coaching
Our Life Management Series uses occupational therapy intervention, based on Lifestyle Redesign®, with the focus on helping people design their lives to be more productive, happier, and healthier. It’s a holistic approach that gives most attention to occupation, the activities with which people “occupy” themselves and are the building blocks of lifestyle (e.g., productive activity, social activity, and physical activity).
Life coaching is a way of helping people which avoids the health care system. A life coach provides guidance to improve the careers, relationships, and lives of their clients.
