Ashley Uyeshiro Simon is the Program Director for the Minor in Occupational Science. She teaches courses in the OS Minor program as well, including:

  • OT 100: THRIVE: Foundations of Well-Being, a course designed for students, by students, to promote well-being and mental health among undergraduates.
  • OT 101: Caring for Your Self, a course dedicated to learning about self-care and behavior change through personal application to one’s daily life.
  • OT 340: Animal and Human Interconnections in Daily Life, a course for animal lovers who want to explore the innumerable ways that animals and humans interact and connect through daily occupations including jobs, food, and health promotion.

Prior to teaching, Dr. Uyeshiro Simon worked for seven years at the USC OT Faculty Practice where she used the Lifestyle Redesign® framework with clients living with behavioral health difficulties, chronic pain, chronic headaches, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s Disease.

Dr. Uyeshiro Simon received her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree in 2011, her MA degree in Occupational Therapy, and her BA degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California. She is a former Faculty in Residence for Birnkrant Residential College. Her favorite occupations are eating, dancing and singing with her kids, and anything that involves animals.
