Heather Gates OTD, OTR/L
Assistant Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy
Heather Gates received her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Lafayette College. She then completed her master’s and clinical doctorate degrees in occupational therapy from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Gates currently serves as a clinical faculty member at Keck Hospital of USC, where she provides OT evaluation and intervention to patients in the acute care setting. As a doctoral resident she focused on demonstrating occupational therapy’s distinct role and value in evaluating individuals for advanced heart failure interventions including heart transplantation and left ventricular assist device implantation. She is passionate about providing high quality patient care and engaging in research in the clinical setting to advance occupational therapy practice.
