Florence Clark to retire from USC in 2018
December 22, 2017
Florence Clark, the holder of the Mrs. T.H. Chan Professorship of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and the division’s former administrative leader of nearly 28 years, will retire in early 2018. She made the announcement on Dec. 18 in an open letter, available to read here (PDF), addressed to USC Chan faculty and staff members.
“Change is necessary for progress, and with it, new desires and hopes are ignited,” she wrote.
Clark is widely recognized as one of the most influential and visible figures in the history of the occupational therapy profession, and her scholarship, educational program development and professional advocacy during her 41 years as a USC faculty member is unparalleled.
With her husband, John Wolcott, Clark will be relocating to Bishop, California, to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
