Semira Dariushnia named 2019 commencement speaker

Family physician and USC Chan Board of Councilors member to keynote May 10 ceremony
Semira Dariushnia will address hundreds of Trojan occupational therapy graduates as USC Chan’s 2019 commencement speaker. The family physician is passionate about the provision of quality health care and the contributions made by occupational science and occupational therapy to the health and wellness of individuals and society.
Dariushnia trained at the Complutense University of Madrid School of Medicine, the highest-ranked university in Spain, and completed her graduate medical education at the University of California, Irvine. Her family medicine practice includes emphases in preventive care, women’s health and pediatrics. She is board certified in family medicine and is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dariushnia joined the USC Chan Board of Councilors in 2012. In 2015, she and her husband, Mark Moshayedi, pledged $100,000 to USC Chan in order to sponsor a student competition that promotes cutting-edge projects to improve health and wellness through technological innovation. The winner of the annual Mark and Semira Moshayedi Innovation Award receives a $5,000 scholarship.
The 2019 commencement ceremony of the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy will begin at 11 a.m. at the lawn located west of Leavey Library on the USC University Park Campus.
