Ellie received her bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology at the University of San Diego. She then made her way to the University of Southern California where she completed her master’s degree and went on to complete her doctoral residency at USC’s Keck Hospital in acute care practice. The focus of her clinical residency was providing early evaluation and intervention to individuals across the lung transplant care continuum, collecting data on pre- and post-transplant functional assessments and outcomes. From there, she went on to work at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in acute care where she was received advanced training in the embedded medical ICU practice throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, before ultimately returning to Keck Hospital of USC as clinical faculty member.
Professional interests include: OT’s role in post-intensive care syndrome and critical illness, cardiopulmonary disease management and risk mitigation in the acute setting, pre- and post-transplantation care, quality improvement in the context of healthcare systems, and writing.
