Nora Dixon MA ’20

Nora Dixon MA ’20

Hometown: Mishawaka, IN
Program: Entry-Level Master’s, Class of 2020

What area of practice are you interested in?
I’m interested in health & wellness, and would love to trailblaze more opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to receive OT services. I’m also interested in the emerging role of occupational therapists in the college setting!

Tell us about your favorite memory from the program so far.
My favorite memory in the program was finding out that I got my dream residency! I was at lunch with my dear friends from the program, Madison and Michelle. They ended up having to read the congratulatory email for me because I couldn’t see my phone through my tears! It was so nice to have their support and watch all of our OT dreams & plans unfold.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
I would love to visit as many US and worldwide National Parks as possible! I spent my externship studying accessibility at 4 different national parks, and it was SO fulfilling! I can’t wait to explore more once travel is safer. 😊

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
The best advice I’ve been given is to find balance in each day! With how much we’re sitting and zooming lately, it’s been valuable to find time to decompress and do things that I love. Adding evening hikes with my dog and partner into my routine has helped me to find balance this summer!

Note: Nora is now Assistant Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy in the Chan division.
