What brought you to occupational therapy?
I was unhappy with the elementary education classes that I was taking and decided I needed a change. After becoming very ill, I discovered an interest in science and health fields. After flipping through a course catalog at my university, I found OT. Once I discovered how much hope Occupational Therapy can bring to the lives of clients, I knew that there was no turning back!
What area of practice are you interested in?
I am very interested in working in geriatrics, specifically in home safety and home modification. I would love to help the elderly to be healthy and safe in their own comfortable environments!
What are some of the occupations you engage in?
I love to read, watch Netflix, and occasionally help my boyfriend build Ikea furniture.
If we opened your fridge, what would we see?
Depending on how recently I have gone to Ralph’s, it can range from tons of squash, spring mix, and fruit to string cheese and Costco grapefruit cups. Always eggs, lots and lots of eggs.
What do you think is the greatest invention of mankind?
To me, the greatest invention is a category of things — anything that empowers people and gives them hope. This could be an adaptive utensil, a reacher, or even the way that someone discovers that they can do so much more than they ever thought was possible.
