Yufei Wu OTD ’25
Hometown: Chengdu, China & Lubbock, Texas
Program: Entry-Level Doctorate (OTD), Class of 2025
What brought you to occupational therapy?
My interests were sparked because my mentor survived and thrived after a very traumatic accident because of OT!
Describe your background before coming to occupational therapy.
I am an international student from Chengdu, China. I majored in Human Development & Family Sciences for my undergraduate degree. I have never heard about OT before college. But I have always wanted to help people with special needs and the aging population ever since I was little.
Tell us about your favorite memory from the program so far.
I participated in the Summer Occupational Therapy Immersion program in 2021 and I was so excited about becoming an OT. I was overjoyed and jumping up and down every day after our presentations. There was even a video of me jumping and just being excited on the SOTI Facebook page.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
I want to travel to Iceland with my brother, if I could travel anywhere. We made a deal 8 years ago that we will go to Iceland together when he turns 18. I have not seen him for 3 years because of COVID. I think we will have tons of fun if we go!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t count the days, make the days count.
