Edmond Tang MA ’18

Edmond Tang MA ’18

Hometown: Hong Kong
Program: Post-Professional Master’s, Class of 2018

What brought you to occupational therapy?
The incorporation of creativity in a medical profession. We see our clients as an occupational living being instead of a surviving patient.

Describe your background before coming to occupational therapy.
I graduated with a bachelor in occupational therapy from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University last year, and I came right away for the post-professional master program. I got a chance to learn about USC through an international exchange clinical rotation program between my university in Hong Kong and Keck Hospital. After the 2-month work experience in Keck Hospital, I got to see that USC is a place full of inspiration and vision, so that is the reason why I am back for the program.

What are some of the occupations you engage in?
I am an artistic and sporty person in general. I have been training in singing, dancing and saxophone performing professionally for almost my entire life and I have got my licences in teaching the above. I really enjoy myself being surrounded by various kinds of arts, especially performing art. Currently I am a member of USC Thornton Concert Choir to keep up my enthusiasm towards performing arts. I also like outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking etc. In the light of that, I once dedicated myself to the rowing team in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and competed as one of the rowers.

What song can you sing entirely by heart?
There are too many! But I would say “LISTEN” by Beyoncé is my favourite.

If your childhood had a smell, what would it be?
Fortune Cookies ^^
