Alexandra Aftalion MA ’19

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Program: Entry-Level Master’s, Class of 2019

What brought you to occupational therapy?
Kate Crowley’s OT 250 class brought me to OT! I went to USC for my undergraduate degree, and had the opportunity to take her intro class my sophomore year. I immediately fell in love with OT during her class and started volunteering!

What area of practice are you interested in?
I’m very interested in mental health and pediatrics. I also attended a wonderful seminar about maternal mental health at the OT Extravaganza event this past spring, so I plan on exploring this area as well.

What are some of the occupations you engage in?
I love to sing, play the guitar, dance, hike, and cook!

If we opened your fridge, what would we see?
You would see a lot of Persian food, hummus, iced tea, veggies, fruit, and almond milk.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
The Amalfi Coast.

If you could choose anyone (living or dead) to be your mentor, who would you pick?
Louis Zamperini.
