What brought you to occupational therapy?
Growing up with a brother who was later diagnosed as bipolar, I quickly learned that illness does not affect just one person. It has a ripple effect that touches everyone around it. Witnessing the ripple effect on everyone around me, I knew that I wanted to somehow help others and their loved ones impacted both tangibly and mentally. Finding OT as a second career has been a blessing, and I practice approaching interactions with my friends and most recently with my grandma who had a stroke with OT in mind. I hope to heal others and embrace this profession as not only a career, but as a life purpose.

What are some of the occupations you engage in?
My favorite occupations that make me feel most myself are: cuddling with dogs, crafting ceramics and watercolor cards, making gifts for loved ones, BOBA, going on leisurely outdoor adventures, and being silly.

How do you plan to use Occupational Therapy in the future?
I plan to dedicate OT to empower clients on their journey of recovering their independence and past occupations. I want them to know that they are never alone; I’ll be with them in climbing any mountain they are facing.

If you were famous, what would you be famous for?
I am “famous” as “Friend #2” in a film listed on IMDB. Maybe one day I’ll be famous for a role as “Friend #1”!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“If you really want to get along with somebody, let them be themselves.”
