Natalie Yee OS Minor ’20

What brought you to USC?
Coming from a family of Trojan alumni, I always dreamt of someday attending USC. I love USC because of its school spirit, academic strength, and interdisciplinary studies focus.

Describe your favorite occupational minor course.
Professor Eggleston’s OT 310 Creativity Workshop course is by far one of my favorite classes at USC. Although I came into USC as an art major, I have always been interested in the healthcare field. I was so happy when I first learned about OT 310 because it was a perfect blend of my two passions. In that class, I learned how reaching my full artistic potential could be beneficial to my physical and emotional well being. Being able to dabble in various forms of art and learning how to take a therapeutic approach to art were two of my favorite things that I got from the course.

How do you plan to use what you have learned in the minor in the future?
Ever since I started taking classes in the OS minor, I am completely sold on the idea of becoming an occupational therapist. I love the holistic approach that occupational therapy takes on and its focus on self care. I have already been implementing many things I learned in the minor into my life as a student. Ever since I took Professor Crowley’s OT 250 course, I am more cautious about living a balanced life and doing activities that allow me to reach the flow state.

If your childhood had a smell, what would it be?
The smell of fresh Disneyland churros. When I was little, I would frequently spend the day at Disneyland with my parents because we were blessed to live in SoCal. It became my second home. To this day, I still love meeting the characters, going on all the rides, eating good food, and watching the fireworks show.

What song can you sing entirely by heart?
In my Blood by Shawn Mendes. I’m a huge Shawn Mendes fan and was so happy to have met him at the Late Late Show this past summer. 😊
