Ever wonder what it’s like to be an E-OTD student at USC Chan? Well, I’m here to show you!

Prior to starting grad school, I was a nervous wreck because I didn’t know what was in store for me. However, over time, I was able to realize that I have the ability to shape my grad school experience. Being a part of the USC Chan Trojan Family has been such a rewarding experience thus far, as it has taught me that being a student doesn’t need to consume my entire experience. Grad school is also the time to discover who you are and make memories that will last a lifetime.

I hope my short vlog is able to show you the lighthearted, fun, and exciting aspects of grad school! My journey has transformed from initial uncertainty to a fulfilling and balanced experience, and I’m so excited to share it with you. Thanks for watching and being a part of my grad school journey, and as always, Fight On!

Hi Shivani,

Stumbled upon your blog today and could resonate so much with your post. Thankyou for that. I’m a parent and my name is Merlyn. Lune you mentioned I’m so stressed for my daughter’s application process in OT program. We are looking to find volunteer opportunity or work but left clueless. Love to get your guidance or input.

Hello Merlyn!
Thank you so much for your comment! When I was interested in applying to OT schools, it was somewhat stressful trying to find volunteer/shadowing opportunities — you are definitely not alone! Since OT is a very broad profession, I suggest finding volunteering and shadowing opportunities in various settings. There are a lot of settings (inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient clinics, etc.) that have volunteer programs and OTs you can shadow. I did the majority of my shadowing and volunteer experience in the bay area, and I acquired those by researching OT clinics and rehabilitation facilities in the area and calling and/or sending emails to inquire about any opportunities available. Finally, in regards to job opportunities, I know of many students who worked as therapy/rehab aides. They shared with me that they learned a lot of hands-on skills, administrative skills, and more.

I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to email us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) !
