Graduate Certificate Application

The Foundations of Lifestyle Redesign® Graduate Certificate is designed for occupational therapy students or occupational therapists who wish to obtain advanced training in Lifestyle Redesign®. Certificate courses fulfill the didactic requirements to be eligible for certification in Lifestyle Redesign®, and prepare occupational therapy students to be able to design and implement Lifestyle Redesign® interventions with diverse client populations.

12 units are required from the following courses:

• OT 521 (3 units): Reflective, Responsive and Engaged Professionals 2 OR OT 578 (4 units): Therapeutic Communication: Facilitating Change in Clients
• OT 619 (3 units): Applying Occupational Science: Lifestyle Redesign
• followed by your choice of two of these courses:
  • OT 550 (2 units): Lifestyle Redesign: Pain and Headache Management
  • OT 551 (2 units): Lifestyle Redesign: Weight Management and Related Conditions
  • OT 552 (2 units): Lifestyle Redesign: Neurological Conditions
• culminating with OT 638 (2 units): Mentored Practicum in Lifestyle Redesign

The Sensory Processing and Sensory Integration Graduate Certificate program is intended for those students who would like to develop an expertise in identifying sensory processing disorders and using sensory integration treatments to address them. The certificate encompasses 12 units of coursework, which culminate with encompassing hands-on clinical practice. Once the courses are completed, graduates will be able to apply the information in clinical practice, research, advocacy, and education.

• OT 517 (3 units): Foundations of Occupation: Sensory Processing in Daily Life
• OT 569 (2 units): Sensory Integration Theory
• OT 570 (2 units): Evaluation and Clinical Reasoning: Sensory Integration
• OT 610 (4 units): Sensory Integrative Dysfunction
• OT 636* (1 unit): Fieldwork with Seminar or OT 590** (1 unit) Directed Research

* Must be completed at an approved Sensory Processing/Sensory Integration site; must be taken for 1 unit.
** Occupational therapists only; must be taken for 1 unit.
